@Bob - Canadians get to choose within the available call signs in their province. Each province has a number and has VA and VE for their number. For example, BC is VA7 and VE& and Quebec is VE2 and VA2. You check the available suffixes and put in first/second/third choices in case someone beats you to it. Thus, VA7LIV and VA2ARR :)
