Floating in Fiji

P1060437

P1060439Estrellita 5.10b is back in the water.

The boat floats,  The dinghy floats. The engines have sputtered to life.

We are still putting tools and supplies away. We are still working on boat projects, but we are doing so floating at anchor, with the breeze floating through the boat, with afternoon swims, with snorkeling, sunsets and a view. And if the wind cooperates, some kiteboarding.

A week or two of boat work and we start seriously cruising Fiji.

It. Feels. Good.

  1. Doesn't it feel fantastic to be back in the water? I know how happy we were, and Totem was only out for 6 weeks last year! (testing 1-2-3)

    1. Tested! It is such a relief. At the end of most haul, outs I begin reconsidering this cruising thing...getting back in the water erases my doubts.

  2. We are just a few weeks away there on SY Amandla. Headed Fiji-ward from New Zealand around 15 May. Look forward to seeing you 'seriously cruising' soon.

  3. I can relate to all of this! We just launched Brio (after her first Maine winter on the hard... so different from leaving the boat in the tropics!) and those first few *floating* *working* *running* *SAILING* moments are just straight-up bliss.

(Then comes the hours / days / weeks of cleaning / de-junking / trying to remember how to fit your life into a 33' sailboat... but it's all so much easier when you're afloat, isn't it??)

Looking forward to reading more Estrellita adventures :)
